It’s hard to deny that Alexa Bliss has been one of the biggest female stars in WWE of the modern era, despite her lacking size. From being a glitter obsessed cheerleader in NXT to the demonic bride of The Fiend, Bliss has put her all into everything WWE has given her – and it’s led her to multiple title reigns. However, Bliss is getting the itch to claim some singles gold again – if her tag team with Asuka doesn’t work out.
Alexa Bliss Hasn’t Held Singles Gold Since 2018
During an interview on CricketNet, Bliss would be asked if she is still keen on winning singles gold, despite having been most in tag team action recently. Bliss would respond with the following.
“100%. First and foremost, Asuka and I are going to work to become Women’s Tag Team Champions. If that doesn’t work out, 100%. It’s been four years since I’ve had a singles title, and it’s been four years too long.”
Considering how dominant Bliss once was in WWE, it’s shocking that it’s been four years since she last held singles gold. Bliss isn’t counting her >1 day reign as 24/7 Champion, with her last proper singles gold being in 2018 when she held the RAW Women’s Championship for the third time. That reign ended at Summerslam, with Ronda Rousey claiming the belt.
Asuka Better Watch Her Back
At just 31 years old, Bliss still has many excellent years in the ring ahead of her – and might have not even hit her prime just yet. She’s only become a better worker since her five reigns as women’s champion in WWE – and is simply biding her time. Right now, Bianca Belair holds the RAW Women’s Championship, with Liv Morgan holding the Smackdown Championship.
Having been knocked out of the tournament to crown the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships – Bliss could well turn on Asuka any day now, to kick off another dominant singles heel run. Fans have been wanting to see her re-enter the title scene, and it could make for a hot angle throughout the fall.
