The legal battle between Britney Spears and her estranged father, Jamie Spears, is still raging on and is becoming more bitter by the second. Jamie, who once served as Britney’s conservator before being given the boot, has requested that the court unseals his daughter’s medical records, making them readily available for public consumption.
According to a court filing on Britney’s behalf, the pop singer believes that Jamie is simply looking ‘revenge’ and ‘vindication’ by wanting her very private medical history to be made public.

Britney’s powerhouse attorney, Mathew Rosengart, argued against Jamie’s request by suggesting that the Spears family patriarch had ‘sunk to a new low’ with this “regrettable — and mean-spirited — attempt to bully, harass and intimidate his own daughter”. Jamie’s attorney, Alex Weingarten, is also requesting that Britney be deposed while suggesting that her medical records will play a key role in evidence to be used against her.
“It is unfortunate that Britney’s counsel continues his relentless barrage of ad hominem attacks against Jamie. It is presumably because he doesn’t have any actual evidence but regardless, it is unwarranted and unprofessional,” said Weingarten.
But Britney’s legal team is putting up a fight to stop her records from being unsealed, while noting that her medical records are confidential and are protected under HIPPA laws. “Consequently, Mr. Spears can have no purpose in seeking to render the conditionally sealed materials public other than undertaking his purported ‘vindication’ and revenge plot against his own daughter.
It is shameful,” Rosengart said in a court filing. Britney’s lead attorney further argued that Britney wants to move forward with her life, and suggests that Jamie should do the same. “His own wonderful, iconic daughter is now free and wants to move on with her life. That should be all that matters. That is all that would matter to a decent, loving father. … He should stop abusing the process. He should stop harassing and bullying his daughter. And he should move on.”
Mathew Rosengart has been an outspoken opponent of Jamie Spears since he signed on to represent Britney last year. Outside of the court room, the lawyer spoke to the media about Jamie’s ‘outrageous request’ to unseal Britney’s private medical records.
“Is that really what a father does?” probed Rosengart. “[Jamie] professes how much he loves his daughter, and yet, what does he want to do now? He wants more funds from her estate to prepare his own defense, and he wants to unseal her private records. It’s contrary to law, it’s contrary to common sense, and I think it’s indecent.”
