Right now, WWE fans are seeing many names return from the mass releases of 2021. While Dakota Kai would be the first, Karrion Kross might be the biggest. Immediately put into the main event scene of Smackdown Live, with Kross taking aim at Drew McIntyre & Roman Reigns – a stark departure from his time stuck on Main Event before his time before his release. However, during his time away from WWE – Kross nearly went down a very different route.
Karrion Kross Was Close To Accepting A Three Fight Deal With Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship
While speaking with Corey Graves on the After The Bell podcast, Kross had a chance to open up about his plans to make his way into more legitimate fighting with the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. Kross would be quoted saying the following.
“Here’s some breaking news. Daniel Gracie, who is one of our head instructors for Brazilian jiu-jitsu, he was encouraging me to re-locate to Philadelphia and fight in UFC. On top of that, while that was going on, I was speaking to David Feldman from Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship and I was on the verge of taking a three-fight deal. On top of that, we were getting involved in television projects and movies and stuff like that. It’s kind of funny how it all worked out. It kept getting pushed back for delays and had it not, and we signed on, there is a really good chance we may have not been able to come back when we got the call.”
It’s unclear just how Kross would have done in these fights, with a high chance of potentially embarrassing himself like CM Punk in UFC. However, a strong performance would have lent to some legitimacy in the ring – making a move like that a proper gamble. Instead, Kross is now back in WWE, where he’s set to become a star in a much safer environment.
