JONAH & Jeff Cobb have been waiting to get their hands on each other, ever since they were announced to both be in the A-Block of the G1 Climax. This one is about more than just two points. It’s about proving who the best monster in NJPW truly is. They’re equally matched in power and skill – and tonight, NJPW better have reinforced the ring.
Jeff Cobb Gets His Ribs Targeted By JONAH
They’d go chest to chest to start this match, before locking up in the middle of the ring. It was a stalemate, with both men knowing they are equal in power. Test of Strength would briefly benefit JONAH, before a headlock was applied. Cobb would toss JONAH off the ropes, before they’d nail shoulder tackles and send each other down to the floor.
More heavy shoulder tackles would follow, before Cobb nailed some forearm smashes. JONAH responded with a big boot, before a flying shoulder tackle off the apron. Cobb would be crushed with the gate of the barricade, a brutal attack to the ribs. If you can’t breathe, you can’t fight – and you certainly can’t beat a man like JONAH.
JONAH would stomp the ribs of Cobb when he got back into the ring – before he’d apply a rear waist lock. Cobb got back to his feet, and took a knee to the midsection. He’d be able to hit the lariat, with Cobb tumbling to the floor in the process – but taking down JONAH with the lariat.
From The Top Rope With A Vicious Splash
Both men would hit the ropes with a crossbody in mind, and would clash hard in the middle of the ring. Cobb would get to his feet first and batter JONAH into the corner with strikes, before dropping him with the shoulder tackles. JONAH was picked up into a Pumphandle Suplex, and Cobb was able to launch him.
The spear from JONAH would be the response, getting a two count on Cobb. Cobb would look for a powerslam, but JONAH got the cradle pin for a two. Superkick and lariat would follow, before JONAH set up a superplex. He’d take Cobb down, and nail the Torpedo Splash shortly after and won the battle of the monsters. He earns two important points, and the title of the true monster of NJPW.
