When Tama Tonga & Kazuchika Okada last faced, everything was different in the career of Tama. He was still part of BULLET CLUB, after breaking out as a singles star in the G1 Climax. Tama had pinned Okada, the only man to beat him on the way to Okada winning the G1 Climax 31. Since then, Jay White has booted Tama Tonga from BULLET CLUB – and Tama has been accepted into the main unit of NJPW.
Now, he’s got a chance to make the G1 Climax 32 finals – having won the B-Block by pinning Jay White. Kazuchika Okada meanwhile won the A-Block, with the only blemish being a loss to JONAH. Someone will punch their ticket to the finals tonight, and the other will be left in the dust. Even if Tama loses tonight, he’s already banked a future title shot against Jay White – having pinned the reigning IWGP World Heavyweight Champion to get to this match.
Tama Tonga Is Eager To Prove Himself
Tama would kick things off fast, nailing two dropkicks to the chest – before running into a Flapjack from Okada. Some hard back elbows in the corner would follow, Okada slowing the pace to something he’s comfortable with. He’d absorb some body shots from Tama, before a neckbreaker for a two count.
Rear chinlock was applied, and when Tama fought to his feet – he’d be thrown out to the floor. A snap DDT on the floor would follow, Okada playing this one to perfection thus far. Tama would fire up with some running lariats and elbows before a body slam.
He’d pull his vest off, and look for the Tongan Twist – but Okada would counter out and hit the DDT for a two count. They’d trade uppercuts in the ring, before Okada was lured right into the Tongan Twist. Okada would roll to the floor and almost hit the Landslide on the floor, but Tama slipped free and hit a second Tongan Twist.
Kazuchika Okada Pulls Out His More Dangerous Finishing Combo
In the ring, Valino would get the two count, before the Death Valley Bomb. Tama called for Supreme Flow, and would get all of it – but that was only enough for a two count. Gun Stun was signalled, but Okada would block and go right into Money Clip.
Tama would get to the ropes before passing out, only to take the flying elbow drop from Okada. He’d kick out at two, and nail the dropkick on Okada. Tama would avoid an attempt at the Rainmaker, before being dropped with Bloody Sunday – an ode to Prince Devitt.
This found a near fall, before Okada set up the Rainmaker again. Tama avoided, before the dropkick. Landslide landed, and Rainmaker was set – but before Okada sent this one home – Tama nailed the GunStun! It was a slow cover however, and Okada got the shoulder up. Tiger Driver would be set, but Tama could not get Okada up – and almost fell to a flash pinfall.
Okada missed the dropkick, before blocking two GunStuns, and locking in the Money Clip. Tama blocked with an inside cradle, before hitting the enziguri. One more gun stun, and Okada blocked and the Inoki Enziguri, Cobra Flowsion, and Rainmaker ended this match in dominant fashion. Better luck next year Tama Tonga.
