YOSHI-HASHI has really come into his own over the course of the past few years, and has risen to being one of the hardest strikers in the G1 Climax. He’s already taken Shingo Takagi to his limits – and tonight will match up with El Phantasmo. Both men are firmly in the middle of the D-Block, but tonight will have a chance to push ahead to try and catch up to block leader David Finlay. El Phantasmo also wrestles tomorrow in block action, the first back to back stretch of the tournament – facing Juice Robinson.
El Phantasmo Gets Into A Chop Battle With YOSHI-HASHI
YOSHI-HASHI would force ELP to the ropes to start, but ELP would duck out of the way of a chop to the chest. ELP would throw shoulder tackles at YOSHI-HASHI, but was unable to make him budge. He’d take one of the heavy handed chops from YOSHI-HASHI, and his knees would buckle on impact.
ELP would be able to shove YOSHI-HASHI to the floor, before hitting a triangle splash. Asai Moonsault would land, and ELP rolled right to his feet – making it look easy. Back in the ring, YOSHI-HASHI would go back to the hard striking in the ring, with ELP trying to chop but just wasn’t up to snuff with YOSHI-HASHI.
Rear chinlock would be applied to ELP, who would be able to fight free with some elbows to the midsection, before he’d nailed a picture perfect dropkick to drop YOSHI-HASHI. A springboard crossbody would grant ELP a two count, and the subsequent lionsault would get the same on the pinfall.
YOSHI-HASHI Makes Personal History
CR2 would be blocked into an inside cradle, before YOSHI-HASHI would hit some more chops. ELP tried to set up the UFO, but was sent off the ropes and hit with the basement dropkick to the knees. This caused ELP to faceplant in the ring, and he’d use the corner to get back to his feet before taking a running chop.
ELP was sent to the floor with a lariat, and YOSHI-HASHI kept the pressure on with a big dive to the floor. In the ring, brainbuster would be blocked, and ELP would chop YOSHI-HASHI who just looked confused before levelling ELP with a left arm lariat. Elbow smashes and a double handed chop sent ELP off the ropes, and he’d come back with a crucifix pinfall for a two count.
ELP would set up a second rope forearm drop, before signalling for Sudden Death. He’d nail that lethal superkick, before the UFO & Thunder Kiss ‘86 splash saw ELP fly across the ring for the near fall. YOSHI-HASHI would first back with the Fisherman Buster, and that would a close fall. Karma would be blocked, but the Destroyer would not be. Karma would land – and YOSHI-HASHI for the first time ever has hit a 2-1 record in the G1 Climax.
