Joe Biden already had the virus and already recovered. Not only that he had it, but he was one of those rare rebound cases where he tested negative, and got positive once more just a day after his first negative test.
Jill Biden, the first lady, decided to go on holiday in South Carolina with her husband starting on the 10th of August. But, instead of having a proper vacation and enjoying the free time with her husband, life had different plans for her. On Monday, she got up and started experiencing mild flu-like symptoms. Immediately, as recommended by WHO, she made several tests, and she tested positive.
Jill Biden Tests Positive To Covid 19
From the White House, an official spokesman confirmed the information and wished first lady Jill a fast recovery.
When first experiencing the Covid-like symptoms, the first lady tested negative for Covid. That came as a relief, just so after several hours to experience stronger cold-like symptoms and test positive.
As usual, the false relief came after a fast antigen test, and the bad news was delivered by a PCR.
Elizabeth Alexander, a spokeswoman for the White House confirmed that Jill has two vaccinations, plus two boosters against the virus. Just like her husband, the vaccinations didn’t help her avoid getting the virus.
According to the spokeswoman, the first lady is experiencing very mild symptoms and is completely stable. The doctors prescribed Paxlovid, an antiviral drug that helped President Biden to pass the infection.
Since Jill Biden is in South Carolina, she will stay there and isolate herself until the symptoms pass. After five days she will take the first test and if negative she will be able to rejoin her husband in the White House.
Paxlovod is a drug that proved very successful in battling Covid. It reduced the death rate among patients up to 90%. The usual prescription is to take it only 5 days after experiencing the first symptoms.
However, aside from being a potent drug helping Covid patients, it has one negative side as well. It may increase the chance of a rebound of the virus once you stopped taking it.
President Biden on the other side had several negative tests after his wife’s symptoms started. It is highly unlikely that he might be positive again. He just got off the infection and re-infecting in such a short period is not likely to happen. However, to be precautious, he will wear a mask inside the White House for the time being. And yes, he is back in the office working.
