No one expected Sammy Guevara to even make it past Darby Allin in the Tournament of Champions – but thanks to the Jericho Appreciation Society? He was able to push past his rival. Now tonight, he faces a man who is fighting to put some respect on the AEW World Championship after it has been again tainted by CM Punk. Jon Moxley is an angry man – and will do everything in his power to take down Guevara tonight, and make the finals at AEW Grand Slam.
Sammy Guevara Is Fearless And Has A Lot To Prove
Sammy Guevara would hit the ring without Tay Melo by his side – showing a more serious side before locking up with someone like Jon Moxley. Guevara would be taken down to the mat with a side headlock, with Moxley moving into a pinfall for a one count. Moxley would be able to corner Guevara, before his opponent slipped free and was run down with the King Kong Lariat.
Guevara would opt to try and trade strikes with Moxley, throwing the heaviest chops of his career – with Moxley mocking Guevara before being sent from the ring for the Cannonball Dive. Guevara would follow up with a second dive, before tossing Moxley into the steel steps.
The head of Moxley would be ground into the steel steps, before having his head kicked right into the steel. Guevara was showing his violent side, which was needed if he wants a chance to become the AEW World Champion next week.
Moxley would be able to find his footing and hit a snap suplex on the floor – before breaking the referees ten count. Back in the ring, Guevara would be caught in the sleeper hold – before driving Moxley back into the corner. The piledriver on the apron would be blocked, before Moxley would hit the OG Dirty Deeds – a headlock driver on the apron.
Never Count Jon Moxley Out
Back in the ring, Moxley kept the lariats coming to the throat before setting up Guevara on the top rope. Moxley would rake the back, bite the forehead, before a butterfly suplex from the top rope for a two count. Guevara kicked out and ended up in a Kimura, but was able to counter and apply the Walls Of Jericho briefly.
Moxley fought free before taking the double jump cutter and managing to survive. The bulldog choke was turned into the Hammer & Anvil Elbows, before Guevara blocked a King Kong Lariat into the Spanish Fly for the near fall. Anna Jay.A.S & Tay Melo hit the ring, with Anna running the distraction and Melo hitting a low blow.
Moxley was rolled up – but was able to kick out. Guevara would head up top, but missed the Swanton Bomb. Moxley went into a pinfall for a two count, before blocking the GTH into the Death Rider for the finish.
