On Sunday, Rey Fenix has a chance to earn himself another chance to win the AEW World Championship. He will be in the Casino Ladder Match, with six other men looking to earn that title shot as well. Penta Oscuro, Claudio Castagnoli, Andrade El Idolo, RUSH, Dante Martin & Wheeler Yuta are all confirmed for the match as well, with a joker in the mix as well.
Rey Fenix Crushes Blake Christian
Fenix would start fast, tripping Christian up and looking for the quick pinfall. He would take the dropkick from Christian, but popped right back to his feet. Fenix would hit the armdrag, before a spin kick to the midsection. The rope walk armdrag could not be denied by Christian, and a forearm smash was met by a massive chop.
Christian would manage to send Fenix to the floor, and nailed the Fosbury Flop. Back in the ring, Fenix would regain control – and spiked Christian on his head with the Black Fire Driver for the victory. Fenix is a great high flyer, and that will be shown at All Out – but tonight was about sending a message.
Ruby Soho Gets The Big Pinfall
Ruby Soho & Ortiz were close to claiming the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championships last week on AEW Rampage, before Angelo Parker & Anna Jay would get involved to help out Sammy Guevara & Tay Melo. Tonight, we get the rematch – with Ortiz & Soho getting a chance at revenge. Victory was within grasp last Friday, with Ortiz & Soho all but wrestling a perfect mixed tag match, they just need to finish the deal this week – before the Jericho Appreciation Society can get involved.
Ortiz would throw some chops to begin this match, driving Guevara into the corner and nailing some crossface blows. The back rake would add some extra punishment, before Soho would kick Guevara in the face, before a PK to the face of Tay. Soho kept the kicks coming, before Tay would drive her into the steel steps. Tay would wedge the hand of Soho in the steps, and attempted to re-injure it with a kick.
Guevara would beat Ortiz down in the ring, and choked him in the corner with a boot. Ortiz would bite the foot to get free, before Guevara would miss a springboard and take a tight powerslam. Soho got the tag and would hit the Back Heel Trips on Tay, before a series of headbutts. Guevara would take a series of Manhattan Drops, before Soho was dropped across his chest.
Soho would take a DDT from Melo, but Ortiz would make the save. A quick roll up would get Soho the three count, meaning these two teams are tied at 1-1, and we can expect a rubber match very soon, with the belts on the line next time. This is confirmed for All Out Zero Hour, meaning you only need to wait until Sunday!
Athena Is Fired Up Ahead Of All Out
Since arriving in AEW, no one has been able to defeat Jade Cargill. She’s steamrolled through the division, and has dominated the TBS Championship scene since January. However, she’s facing her biggest challenge yet on Sunday. Athena arrived in AEW, and instantly set her sights on the TBS Championship. No longer able to ignore her top challenger, Cargill will need to face the music at All Out. Ahead of this match, they would sit down tonight for an interview, to get some last minute trash talk in.
Cargill would say that this issue should have been put to bed three weeks ago. Athena would claim that she earned her shot, while Cargill claims that she couldn’t expect to walk in and claim a title shot. Cargill would simply call her #37 – before Athena promised to end this reign come Sunday. Athena is more fired up than we’ve ever seen in AEW – and
