The WWE has worked hard the last couple of years to elevate Roman Reigns into the top echelon of their champions. To further prove it, there have been reports saying he won’t lose the title this year. But there’s one person that feels that he can stop Reigns’ run and that’s Bill Goldberg.
It’s not surprising since it’s been reported that Goldberg and/or Vince McMahon viewed him as a superhero that would come in every now and then to boost ticket sales and beat the bad guy.
Bill Goldberg Wants Another Shot at Roman Reigns and the WWE Universal Undisputed Championship
He’s so good in the role that many gloss over some of his botches like dropping the Undertaker on his head or make excuses for him concussing Bret Hart in an era where you kept working as long as you could to keep your spot.
So, when Goldberg appeared on the September 28 episode of WWE’s The Bump and the conversation turned to how Reigns’ run could be stopped he knew of one way.
“Well, I don’t have any matches left on my contract, but I know one way we could take care of him. I do need to give him a little receipt for that little choke-out in Saudi Arabia.”
Spreading it around
While it’s easy to argue the pros and cons of Goldberg’s in ring style and safety concerns, the fact is he’s a pretty good guy overall and he seems gracious more than not.
Because of that, he also named others that are capable of beating Reigns, especially Brock Lesnar. But we already know the Usos or other will get involved in some way, otherwise Reigns’ run would’ve been over early on.
“I think there are a number of superstars that are capable of dethroning him, most definitely. It’s got to be the right time, the right place, and it has to be one-on-one. That’s tough because nowadays with The Usos, he’s got a built-in bodyguard system working out pretty well for him. I think Brock most definitely has the opportunity to do it when he comes back. Like I said, I think there a number of people on the card right now on both shows, both programs, that have the potential to beat him, but everything’s gotta fall into place. He’s very dominant, we’ve seen that over the past year or longer. It’s gonna take that special person to come out and dethrone him. I think there are a couple people that are more than capable of doing it.”
As Goldberg mentioned, he doesn’t have any matches left on his deal, but there’s always a chance he could be brought in for another shot.
We don’t think that’ll happen since Triple H is more about coherent storyline than just big names to sell tickets or game the ratings, but there’s always a chance on one of their Middle East shows.
