A northern California man has pleaded guilty to federal drug charges after being nabbed in the dreaded wiretap investigation.
The investigation was targeting drug trafficking activity in several counties. James White (39) was brought in with 47 other defendants who were caught in the Return to Sender wiretap investigation.
California Man Pleads Guilty to Drug Trafficking After Using the Postal Service to Move Marijuana in Oregon, Nevada, and Pennsylvania
The investigation centered on six indictments but White would plead guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute. White had moved 250 pounds of marijuana from Oregon to Nevada via the U.S Postal Service. He then mailed the product from Oregon to Pennsylvania.
U.S Attorney Cindy Chung said that the investigation ran for roughly nine-months. The charge that James White accepted seems to be the most manageable because this operation crosses over into some serious jail time charges. Never mind using the postal service for criminal activity, just that this operation crossed multiple state lines.
Let’s not forget that 47 people were arrested in this investigation. That’s an organization if there’s a group of those arrested who worked with White.
On that note, James White is scheduled for sentencing on January 23, 2023. He faces up to five years behind bars, a fine not to exceed $250,000, or both. Judge Wiegand ordered White to remain on bond until his sentencing.
