There’s a big update on the Vicky White kidnapping and disappearance. Last week, Casey White escaped from jail in Alabama and took the assistant director of corrections, Vicky White with him. Initially, it was believed that the prison guard was kidnapped but when more information about the morning of the events came out, that story changed quickly.
Casey White Captured in Indiana, Vicky White Dies of Self-Inflicted Gunshot
The escapee’s trail was warm in Alabama by the time that the Alabama Law Enforcement Alert went out to residents on Friday, April 29. Earlier that morning, the two enacted a plan that saw Vicky White claim to be transporting Casey Cole White to a courthouse for an evaluation.
After she couldn’t be contacted by fellow prison guards, a search for her and the inmate began. That manhunt took the duo across state lines and escalated into a car chase in Evansville, Indiana. It was reported that during the car chase she was annoyed at Casey White for not continuing to run and stopping over at a motel.
The plan was to stay at the motel for a few days before continuing. However, as it usually goes, the motel buys law enforcement more than enough time to find a fugitive’s trail and track them down. With the U.S Marshals on their trial, escaping by any means turned into a car chase. The two wouldn’t be able to lose the Marshals and their car was pitted.
Casey White was pulled from the wreckage and apprehended. Meanwhile, law enforcement tried to find a way to free the prison guard—who had a gun in her hand and a gunshot wound to the head. Once freed, she was rushed to the hospital for treatment but would later die from her injuries. Casey Cole White has since been extradited back to Alabama.
His murder trial is expected to go as scheduled next month.
