Tonight, we saw CM Punk claim the AEW World Championship for the second time in his career. He was able to outlast Jon Moxley, redeeming the loss that came just two weeks ago on AEW Dynamite. Following this, the future became clear – with MJF having won the “Casino Ladder Match” to earn a title shot. However, during the post show media scrum – we would see Punk take aim at Colt Cabana & Hangman Page instead.
CM Punk Rips Into Hangman Page & Colt Cabana
While sitting down with Tony Khan to take questions from the press, he’d be asked about this fractured friendship with Colt Cabana – and would unload on both him, and the former AEW World Champion. He’d also take shots at both members of The Young Bucks, who went to bat for Cabana when Khan was ready to let him go. Punk would be quoted saying the following.
“Its 2022, I haven’t been friends with him since at least 2014 – the fact that I have to sit up here because we have irresponsible people who call themselves EVPs that spell lies and put into the media that I got him fired when I had fuck all to do with it/him – want nothing to do with him, do not care where he works, where he eats, where he sleeps – and the fact that I have to address this in 2022 is f*cking embarrassing. What did I do in this world to deserve an empty headed f*cking dumb f*ck like Adam page to go out on television and go into business for himself, for what? What did I do? Not a damn thing”
Later in the interview, he’d again take aim at Hangman Page for comments made about not taking advice backstage. Punk would point out how much talent is backstage to give support, and that someone who “has done nothing” in this business is an idiot for not taking the advice of industry veterans.
