At the end of August 2022, authorities in Saudi Arabia managed the biggest drug bust in the country’s history by seizing 46 million amphetamine pills.
The pills were concealed in a large flour shipment and were being observed closely by authorities as the traffickers entered Riyadh’s docks.

Security agents followed the shipment to a warehouse where a raid ensued. Six Syrians and two Pakistanis were arrested and charged in the operation. Authorities didn’t detail what the amphetamine pills were to be used or where the shipment originated.
It’s believed that the speed pills would’ve been used in the production of a recreational drug called Captagon. These are pills—typically enjoyed by youths in Saudi Arabia–containing a mixture of speed and caffeine.
