Twitter Inc is now returning the ‘favour’ to Elon Musk and asks for information that he is not so keen on making public. The company decided to ask the judge of the Delaware court to order Elon Musk to provide all his text messages from his phone for the period of six months starting from January 2022.
The social media company and Elon Musk are in the middle of a court case. A case for the continuation of Musk’s $44 billion bid to obtain the company. After backing out from the deal, on a somewhat of a ‘not so valid’ note, the company seeks to not be left ‘hanging’ and asks for the deal to proceed. In an attempt to do so, Twitter Inc proposed order in a Friday court filing in Delaware.
Elon Musk Will Need To Turn Over All Texts From His Phone From January Until June Of 2022
Twitter’s request is for the Delaware Chancery Judge Kathaleen St. J. McCormick to order the billionaire to hand in all his text messages from January until July 8th. In addition to this, the company asks for Jared Birchall to do the same. Birchall is running Musk’s family office and according to Twitter, he has deep involvement in setting up the financing for the Twitter deal. He is Musk’s most trusted person and a key player in Musk’s inner circle.
Twitter’s legal team claims that Elon Musk and his lawyers refused to share the requested information in ‘good faith’, so asking the court to order this for them is the only logical solution to the situation. From the social media company, they claim that Elon’s text messages will massively push the judge’s inclination to their side.
From Elon Musk’s team, they claim that there are no wrongdoings whatsoever in their ‘yard’. Elon’s legal team blamed Twitter for hiding key witnesses who have detailed information on the fake/spam bots question. The spam accounts are the sole reason for Musk’s withdrawal from the deal. A statement about the exact method for calculating the percentage of spam bots would’ve had him skipping all legal complications.
“Twitter’s efforts to hide information and witnesses have unraveled. They are now trying to distract with this nonsense.” – Alex Spiro, Musk’s lawyer says.
The first court hearing will take place in the Delaware court on the 17th of October. This would be one of the rare court cases where the issue at hand weighs in billions.
In the meantime, Musk has been hosted at several global conferences where he spoke about well-known topics. Climate change, birth rates, the advancement of electric vehicles, and the importance of oil and gas in the short term.
