The Duchess of Sussex had all the spotlight on her, as Prince Harry played a supporting role by watching his wife from a distance as she delivered a speech. And as part of that process, the attention turned towards her outfit.
In the pictures here, we can see that Meghan is wearing an all-red outfit that has been accompanied by matching heels. It is alleged that this outfit was a Valentino silk blouse with silk pants.
And if this is something that you fancy wearing, it could set you back quite a lot. It is claimed that the blouse and trousers will cost you around $1400 each. Meanwhile, the heels were around $700. Therefore, the total outfit would set you back over $3,000.
That immediately generated a lot of talking points for the following reasons. First of all, Meghan was not seen as coming across as relatable.
And given that she was speaking at a charitable initiative to young people from across the globe, she was accused of coming across as tone deaf.
Secondly, regardless of what the cost of the outfit may have been, others simply felt that she did not pull off the look. And this was reflected in the comments that followed on social media.
One person wrote: “Surplus amount of money to the charity that MM was speaking at so again tone deaf outfit for $500 instead & $4500 to get clothing to give to women who are going for jobs so that they look respectable at interviews.
“I would have gladly cheered her on for a practical effort,” while another person stated: “Dressed in Hells red remarkably like Satan which matches her character.”
