Akon has revealed that he and the late Michael Jackson had big plans for Africa.
Akon And Michael Jackson Wanted To Open Musical Schools In Africa
The King of Pop was arguably one of the greatest performers of all time, but his legacy was tarnished by molestation allegations even if he was cleared in court. Putting that to one side, however, Jackson’s musical talents were next to none.
With that being said, Akon admitted that he and Jackson were looking to open a series of musical schools across Africa in order to give back to the next generation. But now that he is no longer alive, those plans were scuppered.
In an interview with TMZ, Akon said: “Me and Michael were actually speaking about creating music universities all throughout Africa… Africa has got so much talent.”
Nevertheless, there is a slight possibility that this time could still go ahead without Jackson being here. Akon expanded on how it is something that he would like to continue, but it is going to be difficult.
First of all, will there be the same amount of enthusiasm for others to get behind the project now that Jackson is no longer alive. Secondly, who is to say that there will be a huge demand from those who would have otherwise joined.
And yet, there is a feeling that Michael would have wanted this to go ahead in whatever capacity, as he was a lover of music. The fans on social media were not convinced by the project.
A certain subset of people felt that Akon should have been using his influence in order to tackle more problems in the United States. And in the process of doing so, address some very urgent matters.
One person wrote: “How about building schools in Baltimore to help the 98% of kids who can’t pass basic reading @Akon ? Black people in America have problems too.”
Time will tell if this project ever does end up taking off. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
