Pro Wrestling NOAH To Run Tokyo Dome For First Time In 18 Years For Keiji Muto Retirement Event

Right now, Pro Wrestling NOAH are in about as good a position that they’ve been in for years. They have a strong roster of talent with a good mix of rising stars and determined veterans, and have been able to draw decent crowds during their N1 Victory tour. However, they will soon be losing one of their biggest names, as the legendary Keiji Muto is wrapping up his career as a professional wrestler – but not before taking NOAH back to the biggest arena in Japan.

Keiji Muto To Wrestle Final Match In Tokyo Dome On February 21st, 2023

On February 21st, 2023 – we will see NOAH run an event titled “KEIJI MUTO GRAND FINAL PRO-WRESTLING ‘LAST’ LOVE~HOLD OUT” in the iconic venue of Tokyo Dome. With the building able to seat over 55,000 fans – no one is expecting a sell out, with even the #1 promotion in the company New Japan Pro Wrestling only drawing 30,063 with Wrestle Kingdom 14 – which was pre-pandemic.

This will be the third time that NOAH has run a show in Tokyo Dome, with two shows coming during their peak in 2004 & 2005 – and both shows were sell outs, being headlined by legends like Kenta Kobashi, Mitsuharu Misawa, Kensuke Sasaki, Toshiaki Kawada, & Jun Akiyama. The current NOAH product has a fraction of the star power, but there might be a way this event is able to still sell the venue out.

Potentially Selling Out – If All Companies Will Come Together

With how iconic Muto is to Japanese professional wrestling, and with him having worked with All Japan Pro Wrestling & New Japan Pro Wrestling heavily in the past? There’s a chance that these big three companies will come together to put on a supercard for the ages. While New Japan Pro Wrestling will be focused on their own Tokyo Dome event on January 4th, they could still put together some big matches for this event – to help ensure that one of their biggest stars ends his career on a high note.

Add in potential matches from Stardom, Dragon Gate, and the draw that will be seeing Muto lace up his boots for his final match – and this event might well be the biggest we see in Japan for the year of 2023. As of the time of writing, no matches have been announced, aside from knowing Muto will be involved in the main event in some shape or form.

Do you think all the major companies in Japan will come together and sell out the Tokyo Dome? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
