Dennis Yadiel Sanchez is Ricky Martin’s nephew and the person that accused the singer of sexual harassment several months ago. Since then, it has been proven that the accusations are not true and have one purpose only – to damage Ricky Martin’s reputation.
Now, a period after the emergence of the story, the situation takes a completely different turn. Ricky Martin filed a lawsuit against his ‘lying nephew’ for $20 million for the crime of extortion.

The court case will take place in the Court of First Instance of San Juan in Puerto Rico. The famous singer claims that he suffered damages to his reputation because of his nephew Dennis Yadiel Sanchez’s accusations.
Dennis Yadiel Sanchez is Ricky Martin’s nephew who accused the singer of having a seven-month-long affair with him. He explained how during the affair they engaged in sexual intercourse, and committed incest. According to Dennis, even though he did not like the idea of engaging in such activities with his uncle, he did so because he wanted to ‘comfort him’.
All of Dennis’s claims turned out to be untrue, and the court dismissed the case and the restraining order against Ricky Martin. However, this was not the last of it. Even after dropping the case, Dennis continued to harass Ricky Martin, constantly contacting him and threatening him. While he let go of the harassment stories for a while, he started sending messages to the singer asking him for money. He threatened to ‘assassinate his reputation and integrity’ if he does not comply with his rules.
Ricky Martin claims that Dennis sent him at least 10 messages a day for 4 straight months on Instagram, spamming him and constantly threatening him.
“This situation has caused damage to the reputation of the plaintiff. Ricky Martin, until the Protection Order became public knowledge, enjoyed an unblemished reputation. He earned it through his long artistic and altruistic career. Martin enjoys the reputation for the last almost 40 years of his life.” – Martin’s legal team letter says. “The pecuniary damages caused as a result of these actions are not less than $10 million.”
In addition, the letter continues to explain how after receiving the messages the singer felt concerned about his and his family’s safety.
Despite the accusations and claims, Ricky Martin continued to attend shows and gigs during the whole period. A day after his nephew dropped the initial case against him he attended the Hollywood Bowl. There he performed all his greatest hits.
“All I want is for you to forget all your issues tonight.” – the star said during his performance. “Just focus on love and light and let’s just have a good time.”
