The details surrounding the Ricky Martin domestic violence accusations have gotten messier. It appears that the accuser is his 21-year-old nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, according to Marca. The victim was identified by Eric Martin, the brother of Ricky Martin.

In Puerto Rico, domestic violence accusations involving family members are treated with more severity. In Martin’s case, Marca reports that the singer could face up to 50 years in prison if convicted of the charges.
Rewind to early July 2022, news of Ricky Martin being served a restraining order for stalking someone. It was originally speculated that it was someone he was previously in a relationship with—and possibly while married to Jwan Yosef.
Since then, the situation has snowballed for the Grammy Award-winning artist. Now, it is being reported that it was the nephew with whom Martin was involved for 7-months. The nephew reportedly ended the relationship which prompted the alleged stalking and eventually the restraining order.
The singer’s lawyer, Marty Singer, released a statement about the allegations and the shocking new details:
“Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with deep mental health challenges. Ricky Martin has, of course, never been–and would never be–involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew. The idea is not only untrue, it is disgusting. We all hope that this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But, most of all, we look forward to this awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts.”
Ricky Martin is scheduled for court on July 21, 2022.
