There has been recent development around the legal affairs of the late “King of Pop” Michael Jackson as his estate won their claim that some property was stolen following the singer’s death.
The Estate of Michael Jackson Wins Decision to Prevent Stolen Property from Being Sold
Jeffre Phillips was hit with a preliminary injunction to prevent him from selling personal effects taken from Jackson’s home in 2009. It is alleged that he took items such as clothes, a driver’s license, an iPhone, the pajamas Jackson wore at the time of his death, and pill bottles—pills include.
Also included were some personal notes written by Jackson. The estate even said that he took a resuscitation tube used by the “Scream” artist. If we’ve learned anything from the Eagles chasing the auction ring that attempted to sell off notes to Hotel California, it’s that people will go to great, shady lengths to move celebrities’ belongings.
The fact that this would all be death memorabilia that belonged to Michael Jackson would mean discretion and patience in trying to do something with the allegedly pilfered property wasn’t exercised.
If you wondering how would Phillips get access to Jackson’s belongings, he was staying at the singer’s Carolwood Drive residence in Beverly Hills for nine days—plenty of time to swipe whatever death memorabilia that would really sell.
