Months pass by and the raging war in Ukraine still is not coming to an end. Vladimir Putin, the Russian dictator, is forcing his politics and stubbornly keeps Ukraine invaded while hundreds of people are dying every day. Naturally, when the world is facing such a situation, people who judge the situation ask for solving it the fast way. This time, they are five Russian officials who proposed that Vladimir Putin is charged with treason, the war is ended, and everything is put back to normal.
The five officials, coming from the second largest city in Russia, St. Petersburg, are now facing a serious threat. They received the subpoenas via SMS. The police summoned them in the early hours of the past Thursday, September 8th, and their freedom is no more guaranteed.
Vladimir Putin Jailed The Officials Who Demanded To Charge Him With Treason
Their arrest comes a day after they sent an official letter to the State Duma requesting Putin’s immediate ouster. The reason behind this request is the weakening of Russia’s security due to the raging war.
The officials also appointed Putin as the main person to be blamed for the death of the Russian soldiers. For the collapsing economy of Russia, as well as for the economic condition of the country’s citizens. They blame Putin for NATO’s expansion to Sweden and Finland, as they decided on that step only after they saw Russia as a threat.
The officials sent the letter to the Russian Security Council, as well as to the leaders of the five political factions in the country.
As soon as the war started, Putin ruled a law that he can send to prison everybody that spreads ‘false information’ about the war and the Russian military operations in Ukraine. According to critics worldwide, this is just a desperate try by Putin to control the media in the country.
With the law, Putin made it illegal to make calls against the Russian troops to protect the interests of Russia. The penalty for doing so is up to 3 years in prison. At the same time, calling for sanctions against Russia results in the same fine.
Until now, Russia has suffered major casualties. According to Ukrainian media, there are more than 50 000 people dead on the Russian side. NATO on the other hand estimated that there are no more than 15 000 Russian soldiers killed in the war. Whatever the exact number, an uncalled-for war like this is doing only harm. The whole world is suffering the consequences of the war.
