Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have allegedly been uninvited from the pre-funeral reception following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
Harry And Meghan Uninvited From Queen Elizabeth’s Pre-Funeral Reception
According to reports, the duo were reportedly invited to the event which has now been backtracked. It is set to be presided over by King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla as numerous world leaders and royalty will be in attendance.
Although that may be the case, Harry and Meghan’s absence has been put down to the fact that only working royals are now welcome. This is going to be a significant event, as shown by the people that are expected to attend.
Some of the names include President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron. The duo are also expected to attend the funeral of the late monarch.
And with so many statesmen from around the world, the mix-up has apparently left the Sussexes a little annoyed. A source confirmed the following: “[They] appeared baffled [by the mix-up.]”
Nevertheless, the couple are expected to attend the funeral. That is set to take place on Monday, 19th September 2022 which will give Harry, in particular, an opportunity to express his condolences before he eventually departs back to California.
And at a time where the Sussexes have not had the best relations with the royals, this recent passing may make them re-evaluate their approach going forward.
The fans on social media were not impressed by this decision. A certain subset of people were of the view that the couple should have been invited since royal protocol could have been set aside in light of what happened.
One person wrote: “The surviving members of the monarchy seem incredibly petty. I am so glad for Harry & Meghan that when their duties are done they escape back to California.”
As long as the Sussexes are able to pay their respects, then that is the most important thing. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
