It’s time for match two of the Best Of Three series between Nathan Frazer & Axiom. Last time around, Axiom was able to get the deciding fall – in a match that only got more intense as it went on. Tonight, Frazer needs to work hard to avoid a potential clean sweep – and has a great idea on what to expect from Axiom.
The Fate Of The NXT North American Championship Determined
Before this match would begin, we’d hear from Shawn Micheals – who called Carmelo Hayes & Solo Sikoa into his office. Sikoa was not sanctioned to be in the match last week, and therefore is not able to remain as the NXT North American Champion. He gladly gave the belt up, saying he proved his point – and Hayes expected to be handed it.
However, for his cowardly attack on Wes Lee – Hayes will also not be the champion… yet. Instead, he will be entered into a five man ladder match at NXT Takeover: Halloween Havoc, where he can try to earn the belt back.
Nathan Frazer Refuses To Lose To Axiom Again
Frazer would start with a takedown, before Axiom blocked with a headscissor. Axiom would apply a sleeper hold on the mat, but Frazer rolled to freedom. Frazer would drop Axiom with a shoulder tackle for a one count, before getting the side headlock takeover. Axiom would be able to easily counter, once again showing his incredible mat wrestling skills – working into a modified surfboard stretch.
Frazer would be tossed with an arm drag before a dropkick landed. Axiom would get a two count off of the Northern Lights Suplex – before Frazer sent Axiom to the floor. The suicide dive was well scouted, and Axiom hit the forearm smash. Axiom would look to come off the top rope, but was dropped with a dropkick.
Throughout the picture in picture break, Frazer would maintain the pressure in the ring – but was unable to find the deciding pinfall. A gutbuster would get his closest attempt, but still only a two count. Frazer would apply a tight waist lock – but Axiom was able to slip free and hit some quick strikes. The dropkick would land before the hotshot and flying lariat for a two count.
Axiom would nail some mid-kicks to a kneeling Frazer, before getting a two count off a tight clutch. Golden Ratio kick would be blocked with a stiff superkick – but Frazer still only found a two count. He’d head up top, before being taken down hard with a suplex – with Axiom getting a two count.
LeBell Lock would nearly be applied – but Frazer would get the bottom rope. A stomp to the back of the head would land, before Frazer hit a superplex into a neckbreaker – followed by the Phoniex Splash for the victory. They’re tied 1-1.
