On WWE Monday Night Raw on October 17, Baron Corbin returned with JBL as his mouthpiece and manager.
It was one of the best segments of the night as JBL’s introduction of the new/old Corbin was the best heel performance we’ve seen in a while, and it’s a nice chance of pace.
It’s been a few weeks since Corbin got into JBL’s limo after being defeated yet again, and he’s joining the ranks of numerous stars that are returning to their roots since Triple H took over WWE Creative.
It’s one of the numerous changes Triple H has made and the shift in the direction has been well received by fans and critics, and more is to come.
Another change
Baron Corbin has undergone several changes since he debuted on the main roster, and while he’s one of the best heels in the company, more often than not he portrayed a comedic characters instead of the bad a—heel he should be.
Corbin talked about his character change on The Johnny Dare Morning Show.
“Triple H taking over, he’s bringing the kind of like this fresh vibe, and you know, Triple H, he thrived in the attitude era. Like, he is pretty much the definition with DX of the attitude Era. I think he’s bringing some of that attitude and pushing the envelope, and bringing the aggressiveness back to WWE. I think it’s an awesome thing because he wants to keep the entertainment as well. I’m not just a big bad guy that’s tough and beats everybody up. Like, ‘How can we do it and be entertaining and funny and witty?’ It’s pretty awesome to have him putting his touch on a lot of things and really. He’s bringing a lot of fresh aspects to it, and I think it’s getting people excited. It’s really helping it thrive again and being back in front of people.
“He’s a guy who, when I came into NXT, he was a guy who really grabbed onto me and helped develop me and create who I was. My first entrance, he brought that whole motorcycle vibe, that drudgy rock music where I walked in, and I had spotlights over my head. That was all his vision and it’s cool to have him back because he has now kind of taken what I’ve been doing and going, ‘How do we put more edge back on you? How do we make you a little more bada– again?’ And that feels good to have that.”
We’re looking forward to seeing how Corbin further grows and develops under Triple H’s guidance, and hearing Corbin’s excitement only makes us more excited to see what’s to come.
