Calls for the abolition of the monarchy have been growing now that the mourning period for Queen Elizabeth II has passed amid her recent death.

Her successor King Charles III already faced a huge task since he was stepping into the shoes of the longest serving British monarch in history.
While he managed to learn under her by witnessing her reign, the fact of the matter is that he does have a lot on his plate. His initial task was to deal with the Sussexes in a manner that would minimise the damage to the firm.
But now it appears that the rise of Republican groups looking to offer an alternative are growing.
Reports indicate that billboards are being placed across England and Scotland in the run-up to King Charles III’s Coronation next year to demand an alternative to the monarchy.
In a picture of the billboard here put up by pressure group Republic, we can see an image of King Charles III with the following words: “#NotmyKing. Discover the alternative.” Such billboards are expected to go up in 18 towns, such as Edinburgh and Manchester.
In an official statement given on behalf of the group, spokesperson Graham Smith said the following: “We believe now is the time to start talking about the democratic alternative to the monarchy, a parliamentary republic with a constitutional head of state.”
At a time when the public is struggling with the extreme cost of living, there are serious question marks over whether or not it is feasible to have the taxpayer pay for the Coronation.
In addition, since the Royal Family does have an abundance of wealth at its disposal, the argument that they are crucial for tourism is coming under scrutiny.
