Earlier this year, we saw the end of NXT UK as we knew it. The belts would be unified into the NXT Championships, and the Heritage Cup has been all but forgotten. Aside from a few key players, the bulk of the roster was released from their contracts – with NXT Europe planned to take it’s place in 2023. However, not everyone released will be keen to walk right back into WWE – namely Dave Mastiff.
Dave Mastiff Would Need The Right Offer To Return To WWE
Mastiff was part of the WWE roster from 2018 to 2022, making his debut as part of the NXT UK Championship tournament. Past that point, he’d be mainly used as an upper-midcard talent, once challenging WALTER for the NXT UK Championship. Mastiff was a big name on the UK indy scene prior to NXT UK, with this size, speed and charisma making him easy to enjoy.
However, while speaking with PWMania, Mastiff would speak on his WWE release – and how he’d only return for “the right price”. Mastiff would be quoted saying the following.
“We had a meeting and we’re told it was closing. We were told the Europe thing was in the pipeline. They then made a press release seconds after. Then we all got the calls releasing us. Anything that’s said is guesswork by anyone. They need to do a lot of work before it comes to fruition and it would need to be the right offer for me.”

However, Mastiff did enjoy this time working for WWE. Earlier in the same interview, he’d have the following to say about his time in NXT UK.
“People may not realize but those two gents had a significant impact on my career even before signing with WWE. Learning from Triple H was also wonderful because he just has so much attention to detail. He’s a fantastic leader too I believ.
As for the joy, for me, the joy came in being at the PC with a group of lads who I’ve spent so much time with on the independents. We shared a journey for many years and it was great to enjoy working for the market leader together. It differed of course because it’s a television-centric product but I’d had a lot of previous experience with that.”
