Man Who Gave Texas Synagogue Hostage Taker the Gun Used Gets Almost 8 Years Behind Bars
His plea comes five months after Malik Faisal Akram bought the gun and went into a Dallas-area synagogue. There, Akram took three congregation members and the rabbi hostage on January 15, 2022. This motivation was to have federal prisoner Aafia Siddiqui released which resulted in a standoff that went ten hours.
Eventually, the rabbi managed to take advantage of an opening and threw a chair at Akram. The rabbi and two hostages managed to escape. Akram took his own life after he lost his bargaining chips and the FBI closed in.
An investigation into the standoff turned up Williams’ name and he was arrested over a week later. In speaking with authorities, he said that he sold Akram the gun on January 13.
