At NJPW Declaration of Power, Jeff Cobb would put YOSHI-HASHI down with the Tour of The Islands to potentially grant United Empire a chance to face FTR over the IWGP World Tag Team Championships. However, YOSHI-HASHI is already getting his chance at revenge as he meets Cobb in the opening round of the NJPW World Television Championship Tournament. YOSHI-HASHI knows how to break Cobb down, having good experience in going after his leg – and that strategy might be just what he needs to set himself on the path to his first taste of singles gold in NJPW.
Jeff Cobb Throws YOSHI-HASHI Around
YOSHI-HASHI would start fast with some elbow smashes to the face of Cobb, before avoiding a leg drop and hitting a dropkick to the face. Cobb came back with a dropkick of his own, his one strike being worth five from YOSHI-HASHI. A chop on the ropes would set up the vertical suplex, with Cobb holding YOSHI-HASHI up with one arm before tossing him back down to the mat for a two count.
A scoop slam would be followed by the standing moonsault, with YOSHI-HASHI knowing the combo and getting his knees up. It was enough to buy him an opening, with Cobb taking refuge in the corner and taking the running chop. Headhunter would take Cobb down for a moment, YOSHI-HASHI would go after that knee of Cobb with a dropkick, before looking for a Fisherman Buster – but being countered.
Cobb would be sent out to the floor, but a dive was caught – with YOSHI-HASHI being slammed right into the ring post. YOSHI-HASHI would not accept a count out loss, and would push into the ring for at nineteen. Cobb was waiting for him, and chucked YOSHI-HASHI into the middle of the ring with an Avalanche Gutwrench Suplex. YOSHI-HASHI kicked out at two and hit with a moonsault – but Cobb came down hard on his knee.
It Just Takes One Smart Pinfall
Cobb would be taken into a kneebar, with YOSHI-HASHI relentless on that injured limb. He was waiting for this exact moment, and would transition into a choke to prevent a rope break. Cobb used the one good leg to lift YOSHI-HASHI, and prove him back into the corner to break the hold.
Dragon Suplex would land, but Cobb rolled back to his feet and hit a lariat. YOSHI-HASHI would come back with a basement dropkick and a lariat of his own as we hit the ten minute mark. Karma would be set up, but Cobb was able to easily fight free and hit the Spin-Cycle. Tour of The Islands was blocked into an inside cradle for a two count.
YOSHI-HASHI would be punched in the face, but again the Tour of the Islands was blocked into a pinfall – this time getting the three count! Jeff Cobb was shocked, but YOSHI-HASHI moves to the Quarter Finals of the tournament where he will face EVIL.
