Shingo Takagi has been giving the KOPW 2022 trophy a better reputation since taking it from Taichi – and tonight, is expected to further raise the stock of this trophy as he looks to redeem a loss to El Phantasmo during the G1 Climax. ELP would cement his status as a heavyweight in NJPW by pinning Shingo, and tonight will meet The Dragon in a “Who’s Your Daddy Match”. It’s usual rules, but whoever loses needs to declare that the victor is their daddy, which is pretty tame for his title. Who will be the daddy, and who will be the baby?

    Who’s Your Daddy?

This one would start with an exchange of forearm smashes as both men griped over their shirts, declaring themselves as the daddy. ELP would take Shingo down with a hurricarana, before being run down with a shoulder tackle. It was starting to look like this was a ploy to sell t-shirts, but both were torn off before some punches to the face.

ELP would send Shingo out to the floor, and kept the pressure on with a suicide dive. Shingo would be asked who his daddy is, but this is not an “I Quit” style match, so ELP instead bonked him on the head with the microphone. Back in the ring, ELP would hit the lionsault, getting a near fall.

Shingo would hit some hard strikes in the corner, before ELP went for a nipple twister – dirty but effective. ELP would hit some strong elbow smashes in the corner, before being popped up into a Death Valley Driver from Shingo. A suplex would be countered, with ELP getting a back rake afterwards before being crushed with a senton.

Shingo Takagi Remains KOPW 2022 Champion

ELP would be set up for the hammer and anvil elbows, but would avoid the sliding lariat before avoiding the Yukon Lariat and being dropped with the DDT. Shingo would look for the Pumping Bomber, but ELP ducked and nailed a lariat of his own. Stay Dream was set up on the top rope, before ELP countered for the super rana and landed Thunder Kiss ‘86 for the near fall.

CR2 would land, and Shingo would still be able to kick out before three. Shingo would block CR3 and hit Made In Japan for the near fall. ELP would be annihilated with strikes in the corner, before a Sudden Shingo kick and CR3 to ELP for the near fall. It’s amazing that ELP kicked out after being dropped on his neck, but a Cobra Clutch wouldn’t help the neck.

Shingo would switch to the Octopus Hold before taking ELP to the mat and forcing him to tap out. ELP would be a man of his word, and said that Shingo was his daddy. It would take some prodding, some water, but he would say it. He’d have a pacifier put in his mouth and wore the Shingo Is My Dadd shirt, before hitting a low blow and destroying the trophy.
