Actor Pablo Lyle (35) has been convicted of manslaughter after punching and killing another driver during a road rage situation in Miami. Lyle is known for his starring role as Malcolm Moriarty in the Netflix narco drama Yankee.
Pablo Lyle Convicted of Manslaughter After Punching and Killing Man in 2019 Miami Road Rage Incident
The incident occurred in March 2019 when Lyle got into a confrontation with 63-year-old Juan Ricardo Hernandez. Things would escalate into violence after the actor punched the man who hit his head on the street and had to be rushed to the hospital.
Four days later, Hernandez died of a brain injury and Lyle’s issues spiked from assault to manslaughter. The actor’s defense was that this was an act of self-defense as he was protecting his kids.
This will always be a hard defense when it comes to road rage as these situations often end up with both parties outside of their vehicles at some point.
Unless the late Hernandez was trying to get into Lyle’s car whether he intended to harm the children or steal the vehicle, it’s hard to say that he was protecting the kids. He was in the vehicle with them and if there was a threat he could’ve driven off.
So, it was a risky defense for Lyle’s team and after five hours, the six-person jury gave it the thumbs down. The La sombra del pasado actor was found guilty of manslaughter. It was reported that the 35-year-old was impassive as the verdict was read and when the Circuit Judge requested that he be jailed.
A date hasn’t been set for Pablo Lyle’s sentencing but he is facing a minimum of nine years and a maximum of fifteen behind bars.
