For the third time in his AEW career, Jon Moxley is the AEW World Champion. He won the belt after coming out on top in the Tournament of Champions, last defeating fellow Blackpool Combat Club member Bryan Danielson. Since then, Jon Moxley has successfully defended against Hangman Page – and is set to face MJF in the main event of the never AEW PPV, Full Gear. However, never content with sitting on the sidelines – Moxley would ask for someone to challenge him on the next episode of AEW Dynamite, and Penta El Zero Miedo answered the call.
Jon Moxley Made An Open Challenge, Penta El Zero Miedo Accepted
Penta would confront Moxley during a social media promo recorded during the latest episode of AEW Rampage, in the home base of AEW in Jacksonville, Florida. Moxley was itching for a fight after his match with Hangman Page was cut short due to Page suffering a concussion, and made an open challenge. Penta would accept this, and the match would be confirmed for the 10/26 episode of AEW Dynamite, set to take place in Norfolk, Virginia.
Aside from this being an open challenge, it’s hard to deny that Penta deserves this title shot. Currently one third of the AEW World Trios Champions alongside PAC & Rey Fenix, Penta has been hard to beat in AEW in recent months. He’s coming into this match on a four match win streak, though his last singles match in AEW was back in July with a loss to RUSH. Looking outside of AEW, Penta recently defended his match in the main event of AAA Triplemania XXX against Villano IV in a bloody brawl, showing his ability to show up in big time singles encounters.
