Jake Paul landed a fight with the UFC legend and MMA icon Anderson Silva. He will get in the ring and face the ‘toughest opponent’ he has ever had in his short career. The duo is to meet in Phoenix, Arizona, on the 29th of October.
This might be the fight that Jake Paul desperately needs to ‘prove his skills’ to the boxing audience. The fight that might catapult him to stardom and help him face some of the more sounding names in boxing.
The Boxing Rules For The Jake Paul vs Anderson Silva Match
Jake Paul should’ve fought Tommy Fury back in August. But after he canceled on him, he rescheduled the fight with a different opponent. He should have faced the more experienced Hasim Rahman Jr, the son of the ex-champion Hasim Rahman Sr. After they announced that the fight is canceled once again, it was uncertain if Jake Paul will fight an opponent for him in the foreseeable period.
Boxing fans started questioning the reason behind the cancellation of Jake Paul’s fights. Many thought that the reason is in the rules for the match that Jake Paul forced on his opponents. However, as the rules for the upcoming fight with Anderson Silva are being revealed, appears that this is most probably not the case. Most probably, something that Jake is afraid to present to the public might be the reason behind the cancellations.
In an interview for Shergod, Anderson Silva’s coach, Dorea revealed the rules for the upcoming match. He told the interviewer that the fight will take place at 85kg, or 187lbs, which is Anderson Silva’s usual weight.
“What Anderson just told me is that it would be professional boxing rules.” – Dorea said. “Eight rounds of three minutes each with 10-ounce gloves, and, of course, with allowance for knockouts. The weight, if I’m not wrong, will be 85kg.”
According to Anderson Silva’s coach, these rules favor Anderson Silva more than Jake Paul. Dorea believes that Jake Paul is a far worse boxer than the UFC legend.
In the meantime, Jake Paul comes off from a KO win against Tyron Woodley and has a professional record of 5-0-0. Anderson Silva, however, has a less impressive record of 3-1-0. He returned to boxing in 2021 after a 25-year MMA career. Most recently, he won against his fellow MMA star Tito Ortiz and the boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Silva is almost 50 years old. However, that is not a reason to mark him as the underdog. The situation is quite the contrary. He is the betting favorite and he is evidently a better striker than the ‘Youtube boxer.
