This Saturday at Full Gear – we will see Chris Jericho defend the ROH World Championship against two rivals and one friend. Tonight, these four men all share the ring – as Jericho teams with his protege Sammy Guevara to face Blackpool Combat Club members Claudio Castagnoli & Bryan Danielson. This is the latest instalment in the bitter and heated feud between the Blackpool Combat Club & Jericho Appreciation Society, which might well come to an end on Saturday.
Two Former ROH World Champions Unite In Tag Team Action
Things would quickly start with a brawl, Jericho & Claudio hitting the floor while Guevara was kicked into a corner by Danielson. Danielson would get Guevara with the Hammer & Anvil elbows, before Jericho tried to break things up – only to take the elbows himself. Claudio would get Guevara with the elbows, before Danielson would take him into the Surfboard Stretch.
Claudio would get the tag as Danielson kept the hold, allowing a clean boot to the jaw of Guevara. The speed of Guevara would show as he leapfrogged a dashing Claudio with a flip before nailing a dropkick. Claudio would respond with a display of power with a delayed vertical suplex including some squats. Jericho would take a suplex as well, before Claudio hit a running splash – stretching to hit both men.
Danielson would get the kicks in the corner on Guevara, before he slipped free into a tag to Jericho. Claudio would meet Jericho in the ring with some uppercuts, before applying an abdominal stretch. Jericho was able to slip free, with Guevara getting the tag alongside Danielson. Running dropkicks would follow, before Jericho would rush in and smash Danielson in the face with his signature baseball bat out of the sight of the referee.
Guevara would bite the face of Danielson in the ring, looking to open the wounds from their recent Best Two Out Of Three Falls match. Jericho would choke Danielson on the ropes, and Guevara would keep the pressure on while drawing the ire of the fans. A double suplex from Guevara & Jericho would land, stalling to allow the blood to rush to the head of Danielson.
Claudio Castagnoli Is Not Human
Heavy chops in the corner would land, but only fired The American Dragon up. He’d nail some chops of his own, before vaulting over Jericho and nailing the running elbow smash. Claudio would receive a much needed tag, and would run both opponents down – throwing them around the ring and nailing uppercuts.
Jericho would be finally dropped with a lariat after a dozen uppercuts, before the Riccola Bomb would be blocked. A springboard uppercut would follow, getting Claudio a two count. Jericho would get a poke to the eye before looking for the Walls Of Jericho. The hold would be applied, and Guevara held the bottom rope back before Danielson took him down and helped Claudio free with a knee strike.
Guevara & Danielson would get tags, with Danielson blocking the GTH and locking the LeBell Lock in, with Guevara able to find the bottom rope. Danielson tried to set Guevara up on the top rope, but would get bitten before taking a super cutter. Lionsault from Jericho would follow, but Claudio made the last second save with a headbutt before hitting Swiss Death on Guevara.
Jericho would take the giant swing – and was able to grab his bat. However, Claudio would disarm Jericho, lock in a sharpshooter – before posing with the bat and tapping Jericho out. This bodes well for his chances on Saturday – but that night he’ll also have Danielson gunning for him.
