In a story that has raised some discussion about escalation, a Texas gas station clerk was arrested after shooting at a customer for breaking a jar of salsa. The arrest went down in Atascocita, a community of over 88,000 in Houston.
Houston-Area Gas Station Clerk Arrested After Shooting at Customer Who Broke a Salsa Jar
On November 18, 2022, Breanna Miranda (22) requested that a customer leave the store. An argument ensued resulting in the customer breaking a jar of salsa before leaving. Miranda followed the customer outside and stopped by her car to retrieve her handgun. She then fired at the customer twice.
Reports didn’t indicate if the customer was injured by the gunfire. Authorities responded to a disturbance call at the gas station where they were filled in on the situation. Breanna Miranda was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Harris County Jail on $20,000 bail.
What do you think? Was this a definite escalation by the clerk or was she provoked by the customer destroying property? Is it somewhere in the middle or is something not considered? Do you believe these two had a history that could’ve resulted in the escalation?
