Joe Rogan Says Israel Adesanya Handled UFC 281 Loss Like A King – Praises Alex Pereira For MMA Skills

Joe Rogan Says Israel Adesanya Handled UFC 281 Loss Like A King - Praises Alex Pereira For MMA Skills

Joe Rogan is in the UFC since forever. If he knows something good, he knows when someone has had enough in the octagon and how to judge if a stoppage is timed correctly or not. On a recent episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience he had a lengthy chat with the ‘Jackass’ Steve-O. During the conversation, he praised Israel Adesanya for handling the loss ‘like a king’ and Alex Pereira for his unmatched strength and overall image.

Joe Rogan says that it is clear why Israel Adesanya would have frustration when the stoppage is in question. However, he confirms that the referee did what is right and stopped the fight at the perfect time. According to the UFC color commentator, seeing Israel Adesanya ‘flat-out unconscious’ is the least that we need now.

Joe Rogan Says Israel Adesanya For Handling The Loss Like A King – Praises Alex Pereira For His Skills

For those who didn’t watch the fight – Israel Adesanya was winning the bout on points. He has 3-1 on the judge’s scorecards and he hoped for a decision win. However, Alex Pereira had different plans. In the fifth round, Israel Adesanya saw what the plans were. After a lengthy reign in the UFC middleweight division, Israel Adesanya is finally out by a UFC 281 TKO from the ‘Po Atan’, Alex Pereira.

When the stoppage came, Israel Adesanya went on complaining about it, however, agreed that it was correct at the post-fight press conference.

“I don’t think Pereira was gonna stop.” – Joe Rogan told Steve-O on the latest episode of the Joe Rogan Experience. “He had more time, Izzy was stationary and Pereira was gonna hit him with some big shots. We don’t need to see Izzy with his eyes rolled back behind his head, flat out unconscious. I think it was a good stoppage. I could see where he would be upset about it, too, and I could see where referees let other fights go on longer. And they have, but it’s a subjective call and Marc Goddard is one of the very best in the world. He’s top two or three. He might be No. 2. I think Herb Dean’s No. 1 and ‘Big’ John McCarthy doesn’t ref anymore, he was always in that same spot.”

In addition, Joe Rogan praised Israel Adesanya on the way he handled the loss. He is a good friend with the ‘Stylebender’ privately. However, when it comes to commenting on the fights and commenting on the results, Joe Rogan is professional. He told his guest that the stoppage was correct and that Israel Adesanya handled the loss perfectly.

“Like a f*cking king, like a king.” – Joe Rogan praised Israel Adesanya. “He was saying bring back Steve Mazzagatti because Steve Mazzagatti was a referee that was famous for letting fights go way too long… Mazzagatti was kind of famous for that for whatever reason, whether it’s justified or not, but it was just hilarious that Izzy was saying bring back Steve Mazzagatti. Then he went on Andrew Schulz’s podcast on Monday, so he was on Schulz’s podcast Monday, they were drinking, having fun. He handled it very, very well… it’s f*cking the game they play man. I mean, Izzy knocked a lot of f*cking people unconscious. Izzy put it on everybody in the division.”

UFC 281 was one of the best fight cards in recent UFC history. And Joe Rogan certainly agrees with this. He also agrees that Pereira is undoubtedly great fighter.

“Pereira is technically very good too. He just has a different thing that he relies on. He just has that nuclear option, and he relies on that a lot. And it paid off, it certainly paid off.” – Joe Rogan spoke about Alex Pereira’s strength. “It paid off with him against Izzy twice. One time he won by a decision. If I go back and watch that kickboxing fight I do not agree with the decision and the second fight in kickboxing…. It was a kinda shady situation. Because Israel Adesanya was winning and had him f*cked up. But they gave him a standing eight count. They allowed him to recover and he went back and he knocked out Izzy.” – he spoke about the kickboxing clashes between the two UFC fighters.

“For Pereira, it is a Cinderella story. I mean that guy came from kickboxing. He is the only two-division champion – holding two division championships simultaneously. So he was the 185lbs champion and the 205lbs champion simultaneously. He was knocking people into another dimension in kickboxing.” – Joe Rogan praised Alex Pereira for his kickboxing accomplishments.

“Alex Pereira is a monster.” – Joe Rogan continued his rant. “He really is a monster. He is so big for the weight class, which really wears you out – that weight cut. That’s a big weight loss.”

“Wrestling. He is going to have issues because he’s not a grappler, that’s not his forte, but he is getting better.” – Joe Rogan spoke highly of his expectancy for Alex Pereira.

The UFC color commentator explained where he sees Alex Pereira improving and expressed his amazement with the strength ‘Alex Pereira shows’. Also, Joe Rogan sees Alex Pereira working on his ground game in the next period, as ‘that for sure is his weak spot’. However, Alex Pereira’s size and strength are the things that prevail in his fights, according to Joe Rogan. And since this is the case, he will certainly remain on the champion’s throne for a long time.

Rogan said that Israel Adesanya most certainly deserves a rematch immediately. However, the UFC doesn’t have this decision made yet. In the upcoming weeks, we will see whether Dana White will decide to put another challenger in front of Pereira, or he will give Izzy another chance to make right what he did wrong in his last fight.

Who would you like to see Alex Pereira fight next? Israel Adesanya, or maybe Robert Whittaker?
