A new biography on King Charles, reflecting on his early days, as well as on the more recent period, highlights that the monarch was not aware that Meghan Markle was biracial when he met her for the first time.
The royal biographer, Christopher Andersen claims that King Charles liked Meghan Markle when he met her for the first time. Andersen claims that he even though she is ‘charming’ and ‘beautiful’. King Charles even complimented her saying that she looks quite similar to Pippa Middleton, Kate Middleton’s younger sister. It was not until later on when King Charles realized Meghan Markle comes from mixed parents.
King Charles Was Not Aware Meghan Markle Is Biracial When He Met Her
The book will be a target of massive scrutiny from the palace. The comments come not long before the publishing of Prince Harry’s new book. Also, this is the time when ‘The Crown’ series is depicting a very particular moment in history. The moment when King Charles is divorcing Princess Diana.
“At the time, Prince Charles had no idea that Harry’s new girlfriend was biracial.” – according to Andersen. “Not that it would have mattered at all, of course.”
The book paints a little bit of a ‘racist’ picture of King Charles, aside from the Meghan Markle situation. There is a story where it tells about one time when he told a woman of Guyanese descent that she doesn’t look like she is from the UK.
The woman was Anita Sethi, an author. She met the King at the Commonwealth People’s Forum in 2018 where he made the controversial remark. She didn’t need much to transform the gaffe into something big and dedicated a column to the event.
“The Queen endorsed Prince Charles, in her opening speech to the heads of government. She endorsed him to be the future head of the Commonwealth. It’s her ‘sincere wish’ that he becomes so.” – Anita said in the article she wrote to The Guardian. “That the mooted next leader of an organization that represents one-third of the people on the planet commented that I, a brown woman, did not look as if I was from a city in the UK is shocking.”
Many argue that this shows King Charles as a racist and someone that shouldn’t allow himself to make such mistakes. But what it actually means is that he doesn’t divide people by race. Quite on the contrary, this depicts King Charles as someone who is not concerned about Meghan Markle, or anyone else’s ethnicity and race.
People are siding with King Charles on this one. There are comments on the internet that people were not aware of Meghan Markle’s race as well. There are comments that she actually looks like a Latino.
