An intruder attacked Paul Pelosi with a hammer in his home and struck him in the head and body multiple times, according to reports. This happened exactly 11 days before the elections. The intruder allegedly was looking for Nancy Pelosi, but found her husband only. He told the police that he was there to ‘break Nancy’s kneecaps’ in order to teach other Democrats a lesson. Instead of breaking Nancy’s kneecaps, the intruder broke several of Paul Pelosi’s ribs and fractured his skull.
According to Nancy Pelosi, she was in her Washington apartment when she heard some loud thumping on the apartment’s door. This happened at 5am on October 28th.
“We didn’t even know where he was or what his condition was.” – Nancy Pelosi said in the interview. “We just knew there was an assault on him in our home.”
The police arrested the attacker, David DePape, a 42-year-old man, and holds him at San Francisco’s county jail. In the meantime, he pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the crime.
According to the police reports, the intruder entered the home from the back door and started shouting Nancy’s name. He woke up Paul Pelosi and demanded to bring him to Nancy so he can talk to her. Paul tried explaining to the attacker that his wife is not at home, but he refused to leave the house claiming he will wait for her.
Paul Pelosi didn’t hesitate to call 911 the first chance he got. When the police came on the scene, the duo was wrestling on the ground with a hammer in their hands. Eventually, the younger David DePape won and took control of the hammer, striking Paul multiple times in the head and body.
“People say to me, ‘What can I do to make you feel better?’” – Nancy Pelosi says. “’Vote!’” – Pelosi explained the single thing she asks from people. During the lengthy conversation, the speaker even cracked her voice and almost cried. “It’s going to be a long haul.”
