An expert on body language and facial expressions reveal that Prince William might feel ‘troubled’ ahead of Prince Harry’s memoir publication. Prince William’s relationship with his brother is already not looking great, and the memoir could actually destroy it completely according to analysts.
King Charles on the other hand doesn’t seem to show any emotion that could be read from his facial expressions or body language. According to the experts, he displays ‘overkill resilience’ with his appearance.
According To Body Language Experts, Prince William Looks Troubled As King Charles Acts Strong – Is It Because Of Prince Harry’s Memoir?
This read of body language comes from a week ago. On November 2nd, Prince William attended the Royal Africa Society’s Film at the London festival. At the same time, King Charles attended a reception at Buckingham palace.
Body language expert Judi James thinks there might be a connection between the royals’ body language and the release of Prince Harry’s memoir. According to her, this might show the way they are preparing for its publication.
“Charles appears to have adopted the ‘overkill rituals’ route to signal resilience and a lack of concern.” – Judi James told The Sun. According to her, King Charles doesn’t worry too much about what his son has to reveal in his memoir.
“These exaggerated displays can be a signal in themselves as they often occur when someone is masking their authentic feelings and over-acting slightly as a result.” – the body language expert added.
King Charles seems to force his happy, jolly, and fun side to surface, as he is taking on the obligations once his mother held. He is purposely forcing this look, in order to show security and certainty in himself.
However, King Charles’s facial expressions might hide something more than happiness and no worries. The expert says that his smiling is “extreme“. “He chuckles open-mouthed with his eyes squeezed tightly shut. His upper and lower teeth visible. Is this a deliberate display of bravado?”
“It could well be, as his humor and his laughter don’t seem to be mirrored by the people he is talking to, suggesting he is instigating it rather than responding to them. Either way, the projected message he is trying to convey seems to be that he doesn’t have a care in the world.” – she added.
Prince William’s story, however, seems a bit different. He seems like he is in ‘trouble’. Seems like he has some worry, something that’s stuck in the back of his head and doesn’t allow him to enjoy. Yes, he might be smiling, but according to experts, he has something blocking his joy to come to the surface.
“When he is smiling here the smile looks polite and less assured than his father’s broad grins. Either with his lips closed and no smile in his eye expression or with a full baring of the teeth. But with no real rounding of the cheeks or excessive crinkling of the eyes to make him look genuinely relaxed and happy.” – James elaborates.
“When his eyes pick out the camera their expression looks rounded and rather wary, with a small frown of concern. This is reminiscent of the signals of wariness he used to display a few years ago when Harry was still in the UK and the camera seemed often to be received as an intrusion.” – she added.
Prince William’s body posture and body language speak about this as well. “Prince William stands in one pose with his right arm up and across his body in a barrier ritual. His hand tucked into the shoulder of his jacket, or with his hands clasped in front of his torso.” – Judi James says. Hand and body posture are the most expressive when it comes to body language.
“We can also see some self-comfort rituals in the video clip. Where he smooths his tie and rubs his hands on his knees. These gestures hint at possible tension or discomfort.” – the expert closed on her elaboration.
Prince Harry and Prince William had a very tight brother bond over the years. However, it appears that with time they drifted apart, and became more and more distant. This ‘separation’ started and was fueled because of Prince Harry’s royal exit in 2020. According to royal experts, this is inevitable. When observing the body language and the facial expression of the brothers when they are together we can see it. The last time that this was obvious, was at their grandmother’s funeral.
“Sure Charles would like everybody to be there and doing their jobs. It’s in his interest to get Harry back into the fold.” – the royal expert Christopher Andersen claims. “I’m not sure William is that interested. I think he’s got more of a grudge against Harry at this time. It’s just going to get worse, I think, as time goes on, so we’ll see how they handle it.”
According to the experts, the press attention on Prince Harry also boosts the clash between the brothers. It is mostly negative in Britain. People despise him for abandoning his royal duties and for pursuing business endeavors in the USA. However, the rest of the world seems to have different opinions about him.
Globally, he receives praise for being a gentleman. And this puts the brothers in a similar situation as George VI and Edward VIII. Seems like there will be no coming back from this, The relationship between them is very unlikely to get better.
George VI adored his brother Edward. However, when George abdicated and moved abroad – the relationship worsened and was never the same again.
Prince Harry’s memoir will come out on the 10th of January. It will contain ‘tell-all’ stories and ‘unflinching honesty’. Will this ‘honesty’ completely destroy the relationship between the brothers?
