That is according to Royal expert Angela Levin. The couple will reportedly reject their invitation to Sandringham and remain in Montecito, California.
This will allow them to have an intimate holiday with their two children Archie and Lilibet, with Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland most likely complimenting them.
This will be the first Christmas without Queen Elizabeth II, as the Royal Family celebrate at King Charles III’s residence in Norfolk, according to reports.
Although a reconciliation would have done wonders for the public and family unity, Levin does not see things in this way. In her comments, she said: “Harry and Meghan aren’t coming which I think will be a huge relief for the rest of the family.
“The family will want to make it a very positive day after the Queen’s death and I think the Sussexes’ presence would most certainly dampen that.”
Levin believes the Sussexes’ absence from Sandringham is due to the potential public reaction to their Netflix documentary, which is set to be released just before Christmas.
And if it does turn out to be quite damning towards King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla to name a few, then their absence is understandable. That is how Angela sees things panning out.
Her following comments confirmed as much: “It makes me feel that they could very well attack the monarchy again and be very nasty about the King despite the fact that he lost his mother.”
Ultimately, the Christmas festivities are about bringing families together. But one thing the Sussexes have shown is that they have failed to patch things up with their family in spite of the recent tragedy following Queen Elizabeth II’s death.
And that is something that will cloud the upcoming holidays regardless of how it is portrayed.
