While I am usually down on the AEW product that they put out week to week but after their PPV, Full Gear, I think that things are looking positive for them and that they are finally ready to take their first step in stepping out of WWE’s shadows.
Why MJF is the Best Decision AEW Has Made
Since AEW has been around, my biggest criticism of them has been their constant reliance of former WWE talent under the lie that they tell fans of, “They weren’t being used right by WWE, we will use them correctly.”
We have seen time and time again, not only are they not being honest with this, but all of the guys are doing EXACTALLY what they did in WWE only with a slightly different set of guys.
Looking at the champions that they have had, from the World Championship, to the Tag Team, and even TNT Championship, you see WWE, WWE, WWE.
I understand that this is a newer promotion and that they need the star power, but stop lying and saying that you are different if the only thing that is different is less selling, more blood.
This brings us to why MJF is so needed for AEW right now. As their champion, he gives them their own identity and helps make them different from WWE.
While you can say that Kenny Omega and Adam Page weren’t WWE guys, and you would be correct, neither of them is technically AEW guys either.
Also, MJF has a different level of charisma that Omega and Page combined cannot touch.
Although Omega and Page did their jobs well, they are not to the company what MJF could be to the company.
To add to that, all of their champions except one or two are original AEW products, and I like that.
Both Women’s Championships are being held by Jamie Hayter and Jade Cargill, respectfully. The All Atlantic Championship by Orange Cassidy and the Tag Team Championships by The Acclaimed.
This is what was needed long ago, and its better late than never.
