AEW Dark is AEW’s YouTube exclusive show and is used to give some of the lesser-known wrestlers on the roster some air time. While this is always a good thing, good don’t always come from it. Maybe the intended impact isn’t there or maybe we just don’t care about the worker. This is some of the constructive criticism of AEW Dark for this week.
The Bad from AEW Dark
Unfortunately, the women’s match between Leva Bates and Abadon was the first match to disappoint me. It’s not so much Leva Bates, even though I wasn’t impressed with her either, its Abadon.
It may just be me, but I just don’t get it. I don’t find her act entertaining at all, her in ring work isn’t all the way there, her finisher looked terrible, I just don’t understand the hype behind her.
I know she has her fans and I can understand why people like her character but there are quite a few wrestlers in AEW with the same aesthetic as Abadon that does it much better.
Later in this show, we got Jay Lethal and Satnam Singh in a tag team. I think that this felt awkward and was just a huge waste of time. The same thing could’ve been accomplished in one minute instead of five. The talking wasn’t needed either.
I was very down on Athena when she was in NXT and WWE. Even when I first saw her in AEW, I still wasn’t a fan but lately she has been more aggressive and I think it suits her well. This match was fine but it’s going in the bad because with the makeup of the women’s roster in AEW, I think Athena deserves better.
She is someone with an actually believable character, she wrestles like a badass now, and as long as she is safe, she is someone that I think could help carry the division.
Sorry, but I think the ROH Women’s title is beneath her at this point.
