This week on AEW Dark, we have some great action and talent being displayed. There are many bright spots on the show that could give us a glimpse into the future stars of AEW as well as some not so bright spots that AEW could use Dark and Dark Elevation to iron out.
The Good from AEW Dark
First out, we had Dalton Castle and the Boys. I had a hard time thinking whether to put this on the good or bad side. On the good side, it is never a bad thing to have a good comedy/entertainment act on the roster and Castle and the Boys are just that.
On the bad side, they are just that. Unlike some acts like The New Day, I can see a ceiling on this group, which is unfortunate because Dalton Castle is great in the ring, but if I was AEW, I wouldn’t put them on Wednesdays or Fridays.
I loved Brain Cage vs Leon Ruffin. Ruffin was someone that I had high hopes for when he was in NXT. Looking at him in this match, he looked at least 150 lbs. smaller than Brain Cage, but still put up a fight.
I was critical of Brain Cage for his showing on last week’s Dark, but this week he got me back on board. I really like that they gave this match some time and gave the opponent time to shine also. This could be something that they revisit later on.
Trent Beretta and Anthony Henry was given over ten minutes and put on a fantastic match. I think that this match would’ve been right at home on Wednesday or Friday if we cared about the competitors more than we do.
I think that Anthony Henry should’ve picked up the win, but either way, this match was great and it great for AEW Dark because it gives the people who care a reason to go out of their way to watch the show.
I think that both competitors are tag team wrestlers, which is fine, but I would give Anthony Henry a look as a singles wrestler, especially with his look.
