Ricky Starks would have a star making performance in the AEW World Championship Eliminator tournament, defeating Lance Archer, Brian Cage & Ricky Starks on his way to a shot at the AEW World Championship. Add in one of his best promos alongside MJF, and Starks is hotter than ever – and hopes to continue that rise in 2023.
Ricky Starks Wants To Win Gold In 2023
While speaking on the Casual Conversations podcast, Ricky Starks would be asked his goals for 2023. Starks would respond with the following.
“My main goal for this year is to really carve out my own type of…I want to be so fulfilled in myself. What I mean is, I want to be fulfilled creatively, I want to be fulfilled in the ring, on the mic, I want to be fulfilled as a person, on this television show, that has stepped up and is now on another level and he should be talked with those other people on that level. I would love to win the TNT Championship, if I don’t get to the AEW Championship first. Those are things I want to do. Stepping out of the wrestling stuff, I want to star in a TV show, I want to star in a movie. These are things that I want, that I’m going to get, because I deserve it. I’m going to make sure that I get it. Regardless, nothing is going to stop me.”
Starting 2023 Against Chris Jericho
Right now, Ricky Starks already knows his first opponent in 2023. He was recently interrupted by Chris Jericho, and turned down an offer to join the Jericho Appreciation Society. This has set up a match for the first episode of AEW Dynamite of the year, taking place on January 4th.
That night is set to start the year off in a big way, with a new TV presentation expected for both AEW Dynamite and AEW Rampage. Starting off the year by taking on a name like Jericho shows that AEW isn’t keen on letting him lose any steam. Starks & MJF have the potential to have an even bigger title match down the line, with many feeling Starks should be the one to take the AEW World Championship from MJF.
