A mother who habitually smoked marijuana abandoned her infant in a residence where the temperature was 27° Celsius, leading to the infant’s death.
Cannabis-Smoking Mother Convicted After She Left Her Baby Who Died While She Went Shopping
At the age of 35, Stacey Davis abandoned her one-year-old child, Ethan, in his crib while she went to do chores and spend some time in a nearby park in 2018.
Subsequently, upon Ethan’s death, his mother shamefully tried to sell his items by posting the kid’s garments and piggy bank on the social media platform Facebook for sale.
The mother put up a collection of infant apparel, miniature baby garments and two one-piece pajamas. According to reports, Ethan was ensnared in a sweltering area with no windows or fans open and the temperature was at an all-time high.
His mother said he had experienced a fracture to his skull that was caused by a fall, but an autopsy could not pinpoint an exact cause of death.
Davis, who habitually used marijuana near her son, neglected to monitor him for approximately 30 minutes after she arrived back home. Ultimately, when she entered Ethan’s room, she discovered him motionless and unresponsive in his crib.
On December 1, 2022, she was convicted of child cruelty and given a two-year jail sentence. Luke Turvey, the father of Ethan, expressed his approval of the court’s verdict.
He said: “Me and my family are extremely emotional and happy that she got what she deserved. And for anyone who backed her and stood up for her I hope you feel like complete and utter idiots and I hope you feel ashamed of yourselves.”
This will still be a very difficult period for Luke, knowing that his son is no longer alive. But the family do have some comfort since justice has been served.
Although that will do nothing to bring Ethan back, perhaps it allows the family to heal and move forward. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
