Countess Sophie Wessex Honoured By Hillary Clinton For Promoting Women’s Rights And Tackling Sexual Violence
At the yearly Hillary Rodham Clinton Awards event, Sophie, (who is the spouse of Queen Elizabeth II’s youngest son, Prince Edward) was given recognition for her efforts in advocating against sexual violence in battleground areas.
The event was attended by Olena Zelenska who is the wife of Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the United Kingdom and Ukrainian ambassadors to the United States.
In the picture here, we can see Hillary and Sophie standing next to each other. Sophie was dazzling in a pale off-white top with voluminous sleeves. The regal woman combined her airy ensemble with a chic leather skirt that came up to her shins.
She finished off her sophisticated look with a massive gold chain necklace. Hillary, 75, drew everyone’s attention with a magenta coat and eye-catching gold necklace.
They had massive smiles on their faces and could not be any happier, as Sophie held the accolade. And by the looks of it, it was a very emotional time for Sophie as she had to hold back some tears.
In her comments, she said: “Would you just forgive me for a minute? I just need a tissue. That’s a first for me… didn’t want me carry on sniffling throughout.”
The response on social media was very positive. A certain subset of people appreciated Sophie’s contribution since she had a tendency to go about her work in a very methodical and quiet manner. And in the process, the comments were very positive indeed.
One person wrote: “Now this award is about true female empowerment. Receiving an award for working and supporting women who have been degraded and abused ( regardless of heritage).”
It is great to see the Countess giving back to the community and long may that continue moving forward in the future. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
