In 2020, Jason Ryan Hardy (40) went to California to set up an order for over 18 pounds of meth with a destination of Tarpon Springs, Florida. At the time, he had been under investigation for his suspicious activities for a while.
On June 19, 2020, delivery workers in California reported a suspicious package. The package was inspected by authorities and held after the meth was discovered. Three days later, Hardy called the delivery company to ask about the status on his package. When he identified himself, federal authorities had what they needed to move.
Jason Ryan Hardy pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine on January 11, 2022 and sentenced to 10 years and 10 months. Homeland Security Investigations Assistant Special Agent in Charge Micah McCombs commented on the sentencing in a statement:
“This criminal was stopped from smuggling large amounts of deadly drugs into our communities. HSI special agents, working with our partners from the Tarpon Springs Police Department and the Pasco Sheriff’s Office, prevented large amounts of methamphetamine from entering our neighborhoods and have certainly saved lives.”
