This past year has been a roller coaster for fans of Sasha Banks. Following a messy walkout from WWE alongside tag team partner Naomi during the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, there have been few solid updates on what is coming next for Banks in WWE. However, with rumours of a potentially massive debut at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 in the works – fans might have an idea of where to expect to see her in 2023.

Sasha Banks Has Been Offered Big Money To Wrestle In Japan

Right now, it seems like Sasha Banks is officially away from WWE as of January 1st, 2023. It’s unclear if that’s the end of her non-compete clause, or simply when her contract expired – but it seems clear she is finished with WWE, atleast for the time being. One of her big reasons for leaving WWE is that they would not give her enough money on a contract, with Banks asking for main event level money – and WWE not wanting to match this.

Following her WWE walkout, Banks would be approached by Rossy Ogawa – the head booker of Stardom, and while she had interest in joining up – Ogawa had to walk away hearing Banks asking price. Now, Takaaki Kidani – head of BushiRoad, parent company of NJPW & Stardom has given the green light to go ahead with the deal.

The deal in question has been described as “a very limited per-appearance deal” which would make Banks the highest paid BushiRoad contracted wrestler – even surpassing the likes of Jay White & Kazuchika Okada. There is no confirmation that Banks has signed the deal, but everything points to a deal being made before Wrestling Kingdom 17.

Instantly Raising The Stock Of The IWGP Women’s World Championship

If a deal is made, Banks will be set to make an appearance at Wrestle Kingdom 17, with most expecting her to appear following the match over the IWGP Women’s World Championship between KAIRI & Tam Nakano. With that belt only being established earlier this year, having someone with as much name value as Banks battle for it in 2023 will instantly boost it’s credibility.

This is a move that could also bring in many fans to NJPW & Stardom, which is what makes the asking price of Banks potentially worth it. Banks meanwhile has a chance to prove her worth to WWE, potentially securing a big money contract for a return in 2024. We will be keeping an ear out for more news on this situation as Wrestle Kingdom gets closer.
