When it comes to factions in professional wrestling, there are a few names that instantly come to mind. The Four Horseman, the nWo, D-Generation X, The Freebirds, The Von Erichs and more all proved their lasting legacies in the industry, but there is one clear leader in terms of factions in the modern era. It’s not The Bloodline, not The Undisputed Elite, but a faction that has set roots into most major promotions in the United States, BULLET CLUB.
Hiroshi Tanahashi Recalls The Formation Of
During the latest edition of the Aces High series on NJPW1972, which details the career of the legendary Hiroshi Tanahashi – Tanahashi would remember a night in 2013 when Prince Devitt (now Finn Balor in WWE) would form BULLET CLUB alongside Karl Anderson, Tama Tonga & Bad Luck Fale. Tanahashi thinks very highly of the faction, having the following to say about their impact over the past nine years.
“That was the core four, Devitt, Fale, Anderson and Tama Tonga. I think from there it’s no exaggeration to say that BULLET CLUB is the most important faction of the last twenty years at least. Wherever you go overseas you still see fans in BULLET CLUB shirts, and all those people in the top slot over the years, Devitt to AJ to Kenny Omega to Jay White are really best of the best.”
Nearly Ten years Later, This Faction Still Runs Professional Wrestling
Nine years later, all prior leaders of BULLET CLUB lead stables. Finn Balor runs The Judgement Day in WWE, who recently feuded with the AJ Styles led “The OC”, which shares the most DNA with BULLET CLUB in WWE. Even The Undisputed Era was led by Adam Cole, who was a member of the faction.
Without BULLET CLUB, The Elite wouldn’t exist – and therefore, no All Elite Wrestling. There, Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks carry on the legacy of The Elite, and with Omega returning to New Japan Pro Wrestling, it’s possible he interacts with current leader and IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White in 2023. With 2023 being the ten year anniversary of the faction, it’s not expected to slow down anytime soon. They will continue to grow in power and influence, and at the end of the day – BULLET CLUB? It’s for life.
