According to Forbes, Winfrey’s net worth is $2.5 billion, thanks to her talk show, TV programmes, and brand associations. In 1989, she became a millionaire, and by 2000 she had become the first black female billionaire.
Winfrey earns $300 million a year. With that being said, Stern was taken aback by Oprah’s lavish lifestyle. In his comments, he said: “It’s f****** mind-blowing when you follow her on Instagram.
“You gotta be a little self-aware and know that there are people struggling out there.” Nevertheless, it is important to bear in mind the following factors.
First of all, Oprah is enjoying the fruits of her labour as shown by the huge dedication she has shown to her career which is now bearing results by way of monetary success. Secondly, Stern recognised that she does give back to the community.
Winfrey created Oprah’s Angel Network in 1998, a charity that supports charitable organisations around the world. Administrative costs are covered so that 100% of the funds raised can be used for charity programmes.
In addition to giving 400 scholarships to Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, she donated $12 million to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture in 2013. And this generosity is something Stern did acknowledge.
His following comments confirmed as much: “Every Thanksgiving she welcomes the African gals at her boarding school in Africa for girls — I guess whose parents abandon them.
“And she takes them in and they call her like “Mama”…I gotta be honest. I mean, it’s real charity work.” With so much money at her disposal, there is only so much of it you can save.
